Thomas Chopp Voter Registration

Voter registration from the City of Chicago is available in 1888, 1890, and 1892. Tomas Cap had anglicized his name to Thomas Chopp at this point. During these years and until his death in 1894 he lived at 2927 Portland Ave. (The home no longer exists.) The 1892 registration lists his name as "Cop" but confirms the address.

The voter registrations give conflicting dates for Tomas's naturalization and when he arrived in the US. To date records of his naturalization and arrival have not been found. Naturalization was likely between 1874-1876. He likely arrived in the US around 1869.

The 1888 and 1892 elections in which he voted would have included the presidential elections of Benjamin Harrison and Grover Cleveland.
