Margaret Doherty 1892-1923

Margaret Doherty was the second child of Denis and Kate Doherty. She sadly passed away at just 30 years old leaving behind two young children. Little is known about her life, but despite that, she has at least 20 descendants, and her oldest daughter, Mary, was the first grandchild of Denis and Kate.

Margaret was born on December 1, 1892 in Chicago, IL. She attended school and learned to read and write. In 1910, she was working full time as a telephone operator. She married William Arthur O'Hare of Chicago. William was born September, 11 1890. The couple lived at 1020 W. 52nd Street and William worked as an inspector for the Michigan Central Railroad. The couple had two children, Mary Josephine O'Hare, born May 16, 1916 and Margaret Elizabeth O'Hare born November 20, 1920.

Margaret died on June 9, 1923. At the time she was living at 6052 Peoria with her mother. Her funeral was held at Our Lady of Solace. She was buried with her father at Mount Olivet Cemetery. After her death, her daughters most likely remained with their grandmother until her death in 1927. They then went to live with their uncle Martin Doherty and his wife Ada.
