Peter W. Herzog, left Cuba, MO for St. Louis to get his education. He first attended Yeatman High School and then Washington University. Like his father and grandfather before him, he was a brilliant man. In 1928, he won first prize in a national competition for a paper he wrote entitled The Morris Plan of Industrial Banking. His work was published by A.W. Shaw of Chicago. It is still being used by scholars today. In 2015, Mehrsa Baradaran wrote a book called How the Other Half Banks, which included Peter's work in its bibliography. On February 9, 1928 The Cuba Review published an article congratulating Peter on his award.
